Welcome to this “How To” training about: How To Remove Automatically the Breathings from your Podcasts or Videos.
We all have to breathe to speak and to stay alive.
But sometime in a podcast or a video, this heavy breathing can be a little bit annoying.
For sure, one way out is to learn how to breathe better…. ( I mean with the belly).
Nevertheless, you might have to go through some studio editing to improve your recording.
Let say you have an audio file ( a *.wav format is much better than a mp3) to clean
You might use Audacity, which is a free program, or you may use the same technique with other programs as well.
Let’s say you have something like that (you may see some of the breathings highlighted), and you want to get something like that:

You may not apply the Noise Reduction directly on your track as it would make audio generally very, very bad! So, how could you do it?

1) Manual Method for Removing the Breathings from Podcasts and Videos
That is a good method if you have a short audio (or if you have a lot of time 🙂 )
Of course, you may go through manually and remove each breath, by de-amplify to minus whatever each one of them.
However, if you have a very long podcast that is a very time consuming and boring procedure!!!
For that reason, you might accept something, which not perfect, but good enough for web purposes.
Automatic Method for Removing the Breathings from Podcasts and Videos
So we want to remove as much as possible or at least to reduce the breathings automatically.
You’ll use two tools:
- the Noise Reduction,
- the Auto Duck.
To support all the process you need to have a control track
as explained in the video.
Downside of this automatic method
The danger of this method is that you might cut out some of your words.
This is especially true for words softly spoken words or some of the ends of your sentences.
For this reason is VERY important that you test the Auto Duck setting and
you MUST CHECK the end result to see if is what you wanted!
It is very fast compared to the manual method and you should get a reasonable result.
Yes, the result might not be 100% perfect, but is quite good enough for most of the uses.
I hope you have enjoyed this training.
And I hope you got real value out of it.
